Film Review: RAPTURE (2015)

RAPTURE ** U.S.A. 2015 Dir: Royce Freeman 95 mins

Grace (a devout Christian) and her friends are heading to see her ill Grandmother in hospital but on the way their car runs out of fuel. Seeking help at a nearby home they are welcomed in, but what they don't know is that their troubles have only just begun when Wolf comes home.
This is a complex movie that many will struggle with but it is a film that has many religious themes working throughout. I really liked the idea that even through adversity some of the characters stand true to their beliefs. It has a low budget look to it but this works for what goes on throughout, especially when Wolf and his cronies are on the screen. If you think this is a film that will be praising God with no exploitative things on screen you would be wrong as there is nudity, drug use and a fair bit of expletives. RAPTURE tests peoples faith (or in some cases the lack of) and reveals some interesting things. This is Royce Freeman's directorial debut and it will be interesting to see what themes he will bring into future films.
