Film Review: STABBED IN THE FACE (2004)

STABBED IN THE FACE *** U.S.A. 2004 Dir: Jason Matherne 81 mins

Set deeply in the 1980’s, a group of friends go off to smoke weed and party after being told about the story of the Three Legged Woman who haunts an old cabin in the woods. Naturally they go there on Halloween as this is the best time to see ghosts. Really its just an excuse for them all to get drunk and have sex…lots of sex….that never ends well in a slasher film.
When one of the friends turns up dead they fear there is a killer hiding in the woods, but they should look closer within their group as the killer may be one of their own. Considering that those who ‘acted’ in this film are not actors they do a pretty good job at bringing their A-game to their characters. For a film based in the 1980’s you would expect to hear a lot of synth style music, but instead here we get punk music which fits with the style of the movie as it is gritty. Obviously low budget, the film does manage to keep the blood flowing with countless kills which will appease slasher film fans. There is also plenty of T & A, including full frontal nudity from one member of the female cast. STABBED IN THE FACE is a near perfect homage to the days when anybody who had a camcorder would go out and make a slasher film.
